Accommodation

Porto, Portugal

Porto is a lovely city with fascinating sights, monuments and touristic attractions. You may want to consider to stay a little longer to explore and make this your weekend getaway or part of a vacation.

If you are staying for a longer period, we recommend booking an Airbnb which is very popular in Porto and at reasonable prices. Anywhere Boavista (or Avenida da Boavista) is a good option, as it is in this avenue that our wedding venue is located and with good public transportation that can take you anywhere from the beach to the city center.

If you fancy something more touristic then you may want to consider the touristic neighbourhoods of Ribeira, Baixa or Victoria.

How to get around?

The best way is by metro, by bus or by foot. You can reach all top attractions in and around the city and the wedding venue by using public transportation.

The airport is called Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO).

You can get from the airport into Porto by taking the E (purple) metro line towards Estádio do Dragão. The Casa da Música stop is on the Avenida da Boavista. And the Lapa, Trindade and Bolhão stops are nearest to the city center.

There are also shuttle services or we suggest you can get an Uber (€11-€20).

Another option is a cab from the airport (€20-€30), which are easy to locate when you get out of the airport.

Metro

Runs from around 06:00 AM to about 01:00 AM

Buying a Porto Card allows you unlimited transportation on the metro, buses and funiculars for a set period of time.

The rechargeable blue Andante card to use the metro and bus is also an option. A card costs €0.60 and one-way fares start at €1.20.

Andante Tour Cards are for 1 person per card. Click here for more info, here to buy tickets and here to plan your journey.

Bus

Run regularly from about 18:00 AM to 21:00 PM (limited service from 21:00 PM to 01:00 AM)

Both Porto Cards and Andante passes work on the bus. You can also purchase a one-time paper ticket aboard the bus for around €2.

Andante Tour Cards are for 1 person per card. Click here for more info, here to buy tickets and here to plan your journey.

Taxi

Rates typically start around €2.50 and increase for every kilometer traveled

For the most part taxi drivers are helpful and speak English. Though you may want to write down the address of your destination to avoid any confusion.

Uber also operates in Porto. Or you can call a taxi at +351 225 076 400

Car

Not advised

Unless you want to do some travelling to other regions or have a longer stay, renting a car is probably not the best option.
